Another Album Art Update

I'm not going to go into much detail about Jade Ewen, other than to say I love this album artwork. When I mentioned her "My Man" video earlier this month, I included a press photo of Jade. Turns out the same photo was cropped and used as the single sleeve art. She looks great! As for remixes...I still haven't heard anything besides the Cahill mixes, which I'm still enjoying the quite a lot. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing her album, Punching Out, due in September.HOT SONG ALERT: Alexandra Burke feat. Flo-Rida - Bad Boys

HOT SONG ALERT: The Saturdays - Forever Is Over

HOT SOUNDTRACK ALERT: FAME

Amy Studt Cancels Trip/Move to the USA & Stays in the UK
Photo by Andy Fallon via MySpace
Studt blogs about moving to a house in the country, setting up her own studio and do some writing. According to Studt via the blog, "I decided it was best to stay in the UK and work on what I have here for the time being but I will still be aiming to move to the US in the future, it was AMAZING."Totally understandable. Come on over to the states when you're ready Amy. I'm still hoping to catch a gig of yours one day.
The Time of Our Lives [DSM Review]
1. Kicking And Screaming - 7/10Though, I am use to Ashlee Simpson's version, I like this
2. Party In The USA - 10/10
Love this song, love everything about it!
3. When I Look At You - 8/10
The music itself is a tad boring, but Miley's vocals are really good.
4. The Time Of Our Lives - 9.5/10
2nd best song the album, only this I don't like about it is that it seems a little like HM at times
5. Talk Is Cheap - 6/10
There is something about this song that I really don't like, it seems like LQ, but it's not. But she does "swear" in it, along with talking about smoking.
6. Obsessed - 8/10
Same with When I Look at You.
7. Before The Storm (Live) - 9/10
Nothing really to say about this, both Nick and Miley have really good vocals in it and I love the lyrics.
DSM Pick: The Time of Our Lives
To Rock or Not To Rock: Should I Go To the Perez Hilton Presents Tour 2009?
My predicament is DO I GO and see the Perez Hilton Presents Tour 2009? I'm very tempted. Performing at the House of Blues in Boston on September 14th we have: Ladyhawke, Ida Maria, Semi Precious Weapons and (my favorite) Frankmusik. Missing from the lineup that night? Sliimy, Eric Hutchinson and Julian Perretta. I feel like these artists are all part of that NEXT BIG THING wave of bands from Europe crossing over here. Now is my chance to see them, right? Before they all blow up or fizzle away back to Europe? Tickets are only $27.00 each ($24.00 each if I get a four pack). Anyone in Boston want to go with me? That's a lot of music for $27.00 + $10 - $12 in service fees! Let me know!
HOT SONG ALERT: The Fray - Heartless

I know I'm a bit late here...but this version of the song is so...pretty. I love it! I quite enjoy The Fray, and I quite enjoy the original Kanye West version. "Heartless" is quite the cover-worthy song apparently - Kris Allen did it on Idol as well (which I also loved).
Check out The Fray on the web:
Calvin Harris & The HUMANTHESIZER
I heart the new Calvin Harris single, "Ready For The Weekend." With guest vocals by the brilliant Mary Pearce, a cool video, sweet single artwork...how could the second single off of Calvin Harris's new album get any better? Enter the HUMANTHESIZER. Harris teamed up with Sony Music UK and Bare Conductive Body Ink to create this AWESOME live performance of the new single with the world's first human synthesizer. This special paint basically makes the models in this video the instruments. Very cool! Check it out HERE! - Via engadget
Also worth noting...Calvin Harris tweeted today, a picture of him, Jake Shears (of the Scissor Sisters) and Kylie Minogue in the studio together. HOT. Can't wait to hear what they are coming up with. ALSO can't wait to see Kylie in a little over 1 month! So exciting!Tuesday, August 25, 2009
Album Artwork Update

Yummy. Michael Bublé's new album artwork has been unveiled and I love it. A nice pop of color. While the whole emergency tape artwork has been done before a few times, I love how it's framing his face. Who am I kidding, I am just looking for an excuse to drool over this guy...AND I'm excited that Mr. Bublé is releasing new material! The album, Crazy Love, comes out October 13th, preceded by lead single, "Haven't Met You Yet"out August 31st. Delicious.
I blogged about the video for this song a little ways back and still love the song. I'm excited that Pixie Lott has herself a U.S. record deal. I hope and pray that we see some of here on this side of the pond. "Boys and Girls" is a catchy tune, and I'm loving the remix promo, which I purchased on Ebay - featuring remixes by Moto Blanco, Hot Pink Delorean and Fuzzy Logic.
This artwork is looking super cheesy. Mya looks like some sort of reality star hoochie, and the couch pattern isn't helping. This is the first single off her upcoming fall release, Beauty & The Streets Mixtape Volume 1. Featuring a guest appearance by Houston-based rapper Bun B, I haven't had the pleasure of listening to the track. I have liked some of Mya's past singles and there's no denying the girl's got talent...I'm just questioning everything about her styling in this artwork. The single is due to be released soon.
Finale night of American Idol Season 5 had one good outcome: Katharine McPhee. While she lost out to Taylor Hicks, McPhee emerged as the true talent. Her range and vocal strength impressed me and got me to call in, night after night. When she lost to Hicks, I was none too happy. Then she released her self-titled album. I wasn't much happier. I don't know how much creative control McPhee had over her album and how much RCA had...but the album was very empty for me. None of the songs connected with me. Everything sounded forced and contrived. I enjoyed the singles - "Over It" and "Love Story" (particularly the latter) but it was nothing new - nothing ground breaking.
"Up/Down" is the fifth single off of Australian singer, Jessica Mauboy's Platinum-selling debut solo album - Been Waiting. The album was recently re-released down under as a special "Deluxe Edition," complete with bonus tracks (including a Jason Nevins remix of "Burn") and a DVD with videos. All four of Mauboy's previous singles ("Running Back," "Burn," "Been Waiting," & "Because") have hit inside the Top 20 on the ARIA single charts (#3, #1, #12 & #9) while the album debuted at #16 on the ARIA album chart. Not too shabby for a 21 year old singer.
"Songs Remind Me Of You" is serving as the official lead single off of Norwegian pop star Annie's long-awaited Don't Stop album. The track was written by Annie, Richard X and Hannah Robinson and is certainly quite catchy. It's considerably dancier than anything else she's done. Popjustice has called the song "amazing," while MuuMuse described it as a mixture of "lush disco, breathy vocals, and intergalactic swarms of electronica." This all sounds good to me. Can't wait to see what remixes are churned out for this club slammer. Get it on iTunes now.Missing Aaliyah

My Weekly Last FM Chart

Most Listened To Artists:
1. Straight No Chaser
3. V.V. Brown
5. Wale
6. Paloma Faith7. Robyn
8. Sam Sparro
9. Atomic Kitten
10. Shakira
It's funny how week after week, the majority of the artists that make it on my "Most Listened To" list are from (or at least popular in) the UK. What can I say...over in the UK they know how to do pop music. For a long time, mainstream American radio has been dominated by hip hop, R&B and country, leaving little room for the run-of-the-mill pop music that I love so dearly. Sure, there are exceptions...Natasha Bedingfield for instance, although her last album definitely crossed over into R&B territory with a couple of tracks.
I'm optimistic about the future of music in the U.S. right now as America embraces artists like Leona Lewis and Lady Gaga. Both are totally different types of artists, but both have done decent business on this side of the pond. Artists popular in the states are starting to experiment with electro beats, working with producers like RedOne. The only worry I have is that we're going to start getting cookie cutter pop songs. New artists, same song.

At any rate, with tons more UK acts crossing the pond this Fall and into next year, I'm over the moon! I'm so excited to watch America fall in love with so many of the singers/bands that I've been listening to for months and months.

Massive Album Art Update!
.jpg)
As I've said before, I'm excited about the new Michelle Branch solo record...despite the fact that I know it's going to be more country than I might like. The album artwork is nice...great picture of Michelle. The font is a bet messy if you ask me, but I guess it's supposed to look that way. Her album will be out later this year. First single, "Sooner Or Later," is out now..png)
UGH. Don't get me started here. I'm just going to pretend that Spencer Pratt doesn't exist right now. Let's start with the positive, shall we? Heidi Montag looks absolutely FABULOUS in both of the covers. No wonder she's Playboy's most recent cover model. Musically-speaking I could give two shits about her. The Ralphi Rosario mixes of "More Is More" made her tolerable to listen to, but nothing else I've heard makes me excited to hear more. Perhaps I need to give the new FINAL version of "Body Language" a chance. I'm willing to give the album a shot, especially upon hearing that she hired Cathy Dennis to help her with this record. "Body Language" is available on iTunes now...the album is out next month.
V.V. Brown is ready for her close up! Straying away from the white background shots used for her past three singles, V.V. gets up close and personal with the artwork for "Game Over." I like it! V.V. Brown puts her former career as a model to good use, doing some fierce posing for the camera. The UK flag in the background is a nice touch as well. The single is out September 21st. Remixes by Dave Spoon, Superbass and Chris Kaeser.
I love Cascada...a TOTAL guilty pleasure. I also love "Evacuate The Dancefloor"... this single is essentially uses the same formula that has made Cascada popular in the past...thumping dance beats and catchy hooks. This track has a little bit of an "urban twist." The cover for this remix EP features the band's frontwoman, Natalie Horler, looking hot per usual. Remixes are by Cahill, Wideboys, Ultrabeat, Chriss Ortega, Rob Mayth and more! Which mix is your favorite?
"It Kills Me" serves as the second single off of R&B singer Melanie Fiona's album The Bridge. So far the album appears to be under-performing in Europe and Canada. Its highest peak position was in Canada, where it reached #25. I enjoy first single, "Give It To Me Right,"and the Paul Emmanuel remix is pretty hot. The Toronto-born singer worked with Future Cut & Salaam Remi among others on her debut album and even opened for Kanye West in Europe. The Bridge comes out September 22nd in the U.S.
I have to agree with friends here...Tiësto's remix of the new Nelly Furtado track "Manos Al Aire" is unimpressive. I much prefer the Robbie Rivera remixes. The Tiësto remix is available on iTunes now and includes the artwork above.
Holy SMOLDERING EYES Joe Jonas. Wow. While the boys all look good on the cover of their second single off of Lines, Vines and Trying Times, Joe Jonas takes the cake. Apparently the song was featured in the sequel to Night At The Museum, written by the boys and their bassist. "Fly With Me" peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at an unimpressive 83. I'm not a huge fan of the boys, with the exception of their dance remixes. Speaking of..."Paranoid" has made it onto the Billboard Dance/Club Play Chart...inching it's way into the Top 20.
I posted about Jason Castro's forthcoming major-label debut back in April...and now here we have a look at the first single's artwork. Signed to Atlantic Records, "Let's Just Fall In Love Again" is set to be Jason's first single, released to radio next month. Jason is growing on me, although he looks like the Vampire Lestat here on the cover. Those piercing blue eyes and pale skin...plus the dreads...PLUS his expression...totally screams VAMPIRE. Perhaps his label is banking on the whole vampire craze?
"Heard 'Em All" is the follow up single to "Why R U?"from Amerie's forthcoming album In Love & War. The album is due out November 3rd, while the new single drops digitally August 25th. I've loved Amerie since I first heard "Talkin' To Me" back in 2003. I also loved some tracks off of Touch ("1 Thing," "Touch") and a track or two off of her last Sony BMG album, Because I Love It ("Gotta Work"). I'm not a die hard fan, but I do think she's super-talented and super-beautiful. My only wish - more dance remixes!
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Agnes Carlsson (otherwise known as Agnes) was releasing her pop single "Release Me" here in the U.S., complete with this new album artwork (it's out now on iTunes). The winner of the second season of Swedish Idol back in 2005, Agnes has had considerable success in her home country and looks to be attempting success internationally now. Agnes released her third album, Dance Love Pop, her first album on independent label Roxy Recordings (whom she joined with after leaving Sony BMG). Billboard Dance/Club Play Chart - August 20, 2009

Not Wild About Natalie Imbruglia's 'Wild About It'
I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. I think that this is just some promotional video to get us all excited about Natalie Imbruglia's upcoming new album and single "Want." To get us "wild about it" if you will. I'm much more excited for the single, based on clips that I've heard. This song is kind of...BLAH in my opinion. What do you all think? Excited for the return of Natalie Imbruglia or blasé about the whole thing?
HOT VIDEO ALERT - Dolly Rockers - Gold Digger
I know I've blogged about this before...but I don't care. I am in love with this jam all over again. I just bought a remix promo on Ebay. It includes the Bimbo Jones mixes, Superbass mixes as well as the radio edit. AWESOME. I'm thrilled.
HOT REMIX ALERT - Paloma Faith - New York (Cutmore Video Remix)
Remix of the brilliant Paloma Faith single, "New York." This is actually my favorite mix of the bunch...probably because it's more dance radio friendly. There are more vocals too, which I've said is key for me. I want to hear the actual song and melody. Tom Middleton's version isn't bad. Starsmith is alright as well, but not much different from the original. OH - BTW. I was in a bidding war this morning for the remix promo and I won! Brilliant.
HOT REMIX ALERT - Wale Feat Lady Gaga - Chillin (Lee Dagger Remix Edit)
I am LOVING this remix right now. It's FIRE. Wideboys is my next favorite, followed by Bimbo Jones in last. Lee Dagger nailed this. Looking forward to seeing this promo hit the Ebay shelves.
