The 3GS was quite a bump from the 3G. Anyone thinking/claiming otherwise has never owned a 3GS.
An iPhone "4S" would still be quite an upgrade over the iPhone 4, even if it is just more ram and an A5 chip (with a much better SGX543-MP2 GPU). And it would still very much be the iPhone 5 as in 5th Generation iPhone. Just like the iPhone 3GS was the 3rd generation iPhone to the iPhone 3G's 2nd generation status.
How about an "iPhone 4G S"? It is 4G for "HSPA+/LTE" and "S" for "Speed". That would ge consistent with the "iPhone 3G", and "iPhone 3G S" names.

Does anyone know if the home sharing play count bug has been fixed? I'd upgrade if it has but if it hasn't I'll stick with my 4.3.1 jailbreak.
For those who don't know what I'm talking about there was a bug where home sharing to device was not updating song play counts in iTunes like it's suppose to.
It's not a bug.
You had to manually tick a box which counted Home Sharing play counts on the iTunes overall one.

It wouldn't be too difficult for Apple to provide something like Rosetta for iDevice apps.
You don't need Rosetta, iOS is Intel 64 native. You get a copy with Xcode called the Simulator.

Engadget has a pic of it on their website:
http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/24/apples-mighty-mouse-finally-gets-bluetooth/
Looks exactly the same as the present one - with no wire, of course.
I wonder if anything else has changed (i.e. if they improved the right-click recognition or the scroll ball problems)...

Picked up LBP2 and a new controller. And some pistachios, but they're pretty much half-gone already, and nobody wants to see that.

Hi,
I'm thinking of switching from Verizon to AT&T to get the iPhone. However, I'm hearing horror stories of up to 30% dropped calls in the NY area.
For all iPhone/AT&T users in northern NJ and NYC area, can you verify that you experience around 30% of dropped calls?? is this true??
http://gizmodo.com/5370493/apple-genius-bar-iphones-30-call-drop-is-normal-in-new-york
I want the iPhone, but not if it comes with such bad service!!
Thank you,
olimits7

Keep in mind some of the people in this thread are using Mac Pros.
Which client are you using? Are both cores being used?
I'm using the default Folding@home client from standford's site. FahMon and F@H WUdget report the core as Gromacs SMP, and it is using both cores. I noticed with activity monitor that it has spawned 4 threads each using around 45-50% CPU which is a bit odd as it is only a dual core machine with no HT. The PPD is at around 1080 and it is going at 1.66x minimum speed. What do you think?

Can you name a few more? I have only seen Sony support AAC on their PMP devices.
Zune HD for one.
The Sansa Fuze+ line too. Creative Zen, Archos, Sonos, Squeezbox.

LOL... my friend, lets look at this logically. The United States debt surpasses every combined nations of Earth. Our currency is no longer backed by gold, 100% of our income tax pays the interest on our national debt. We transfered our producing companies to other countries. Most people have taken out equity loans on their homes and have maxed out their credit. The middle class will be no more and there is no getting out of our predicament. We are simply not producing enough money to ever get out of debt and with inflation out of control and devaluation of our currency a collapse will happen. In 1929 the good to debt ratio before the collapse was 1:16 as of 2006 it was sitting at 1:60. I have nothing to prove other than I'd cash out now and invest when this happens.
The National debt is meaningless. It is actually going down yearly in relation to GDP.
Do you even have any idea when the last time the US was on the Gold Standard? Can you name any other country whose currency is backed by gold?
If 100% of our income tax pays off the interest on the Debt, how then does the government operate?
Now you are just getting silly. Most people have taken out equity loans and maxed out their credit? Please.
America is still a manufacturing giant. Our exports to China were up 21% last quarter. We are still known for high quality, precision manufacturing few countries can match- with the exception of Germany.
There are more middle class Americans today than in any other point in history.
Why do you think a weak dollar is bad? Sure, there may be some inflation, however, a weak dollar is good for exports and tourism. Take a look at Boeing vs. Airbus, as it relates to the devaluation of the dollar. There's a reason China artificially keeps their currency devalued.
Somehow, I doubt you have a dime invested in the market...

I just found that the person that was beat up was transgender and this was a hate crime. How come this is not all over the news? I guess hate crimes are okay now by black people but if a white person did this it would be the end of the world.
They seemed pretty pissed off at her. I highly doubt they were beating her up like that simply because she's transgender. If they end up getting charged with a hate crime I'll lose a little more faith in humanity.

Apple pays 70% straight to the record companies, which would be $0.90. If Amazon pays the same, then they have $0.21 loss before they even start. Or Amazon gets different prices than Apple, which would need some explaining.
How do you know this? Just curious. I've heard all sorts of numbers bandied about, but yet to see a confirmation as to the distribution.
I'm not a lawyer, but why does it need any explaining? Could it be that Amazon was better at negotiating than Apple, and got a better deal from the content providers? Is there a legal reason that Amazon cannot get more concessions and thus a lower price than does Apple?

Hey, don't say that too loud.
From the ever changing Macintosh Human Interface Guidelines (http://developer.apple.com/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/OSXHIGuidelines/XHIGIcons/chapter_14_section_2.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/20000967-TPXREF102):Making each toolbar icon distinct helps the user associate it with its purpose and locate it quickly. Variations in shape, color, and image all help to differentiate one toolbar icon from another.
And that's how they read now… "Back" at the release of Tiger it was like this: Each toolbar icon should be easily and quickly distinguishable from the other items in the toolbar. Toolbar icons emphasize their outline form, rather than subtler visual details.

Have you used a 4.3" phone. They don't seem that much physically bigger but the screen size is awesome! Apple keeps getting squeezed with adding new technology because of the size limitations of the phone. Giving us a slightly bigger size with the advantage of a bigger screen size AND more components seems like an excellent tradeoff.
Yeah - I know if will never happen because SJ is compulsive obsessive with never making things bigger.
Tony
The current size is more than adequate for me, and I use reading glasses! The screen could possibly be increased I suppose if the black areas were somehow shrunk, but unless your hands are like shovels the phones already big enough.

Apple continues their model to suck most money out of their customers.
Example:
-Can't buy base 21.5'' with 6770M or 6970M.
-Can't buy base 27'' with 6970M.
Why does it always have to be that if you want a good graphics card, you must go for the top model, and thereby paying so much more than if you could just customize the base model with it?
Already know the answer, but let your defending excuses come.
