After a relaxing vacation out West I'm back and ready to blog. Unfortunately I'm also still jet lagged so the majority of my blogging is going to have to happen this weekend, but I couldn't go to bed without mentioning the recently premiered video for "Smoke & Mirrors" - the fifth (sixth overall) and final single to be released off of Paloma Faith's Platinum-selling album Do You Want The Truth or Something Beautiful? While I do find it perplexing that Faith's label, Epic, is going forward with a sixth single, given the poor chart performance of her past three singles, none of which made it past the Top 40 ("Do You Want The Truth or Something Beautiful" - 64; "Upside Down" - #55; "New York" feat. Ghostface Killah - #44) I'm BEYOND excited. "Smoke & Mirrors" has always been one of my favorite tracks on the album and after seeing this new, fun video treatment I love it even more. Paloma Faith, in all her radiance, portrays a beautiful magician's assistant. The magician, her boss, appears to be a pompous ass, treating his stage partner like a maid but the sassy, sexy Paloma Faith has just about had enough. I LOVE the element of whimsy Paloma Faith adds to her performance. I would KILL to see her live some day. Here's hoping her next album launches here here in the States. It's just so much fun to watch - and with a voice to match. Love, Love, LOVE this! Since the label won't let me embed the video, enjoy the stills and watch the video by clicking HERE. The song was written by Alison Clarkson, Steve Robson and Faith. According to We Are Pop Slags, it's due out on October 24th. Given the remixes we've heard so far, I can only imagine that "Smoke & Mirrors" will get at least one good mix. Can't wait! - Via We Are Pop Slags
