Quite an... urm... interesting forum...why does it look like a lot of posts are just copy overs from MR? :p
yeah i was bored so i was testing out some scripts to test my server. i don't use that forum except for keeping track of stuff now, like folding. but that's not the point of this thread.

Analog Kid;3102254Yeah, there are some who will pirate just because it's free, but there are also those who will do it because it's the only way to get content in the form they want it in. Back before iTMS, Napster was the only game in town for digital downloads.
Uh, yeah. I remember back in the Napster days, when that was the only way to get music.
It's a shame there weren't any record stores around back then, able to sell music on a form of portable media - sort of like those discs software comes on. You know, CDs. But for music! What a concept!
Anyone who downloaded from Napster with the excuse that they couldn't find contect elsewhere (like via Tower Records and a CD ripping program) is just plain lame...

the only problem is that 50million in sales is nothing when an individual movie costs over 100million these days, but realistically, if they limit it to 5 ipods like computers, I don't see the big deal

This is definitely good news. I had friends in corporate I.T. where they did a massive migration from Notes to Exchange/Outlook (mostly due to Microsoft salespeople's slick talking and giving strategic gifts to the right people) -- and the environment suffered.
Notes has its bugs and issues, but it also has some flexibility that Exchange/Outlook doesn't offer.
Lotus Notes is a great program when it's implemented correctly. We've been using it over 10 years now and there's still nothing out there that can touch it.
Improved support on the Apple is a good thing. They are even improving the client on Linux as well. That will really give people the potential to move away from windows.

Fourth gen wasn't. None of them were. HP were very briefly licensed and were co-branding 3rd gens but that ended very quickly.

Something that has occoured to me, is there is a missing feature on this forum. It's a feature that I have only ever seen on GameFAQs, but have never seen anywhere else.
The marking system. Basically, each post has a button on it, that when you click it, you go to a page where you can "mark" a message, You can mark it for spamming, flaming, etc... There is a variety of options. Anyway, once you have marked it, it goes into a todo list for the mods. They can then review this message, and remove it or change it.
Basically, it allows people to easily inform the mods if there is a bad post. Currently, you have to PM the mods. This makes it easier. Oh, and if you abuse the system, you get punished.
Anouther feature from GameFAQs, is the Karma system, which ties in with the mod system. Basically, when you get moderated, you loose Karma. And you gain one Karma per day, as long as you have at least one active post.
I suppose I've only seen these features at GameFAQs, because it is the scurge of all earth. And I love it.
MacRumors in the most friendly fourm on the internet, but GameFAQs has a wide variety of topics. It's the birthplace of many interesting things. Like the unholy trinity... Don't ask.

My first computer had a tape drive. A Commodore Vic 20. I wonder how long a cassette tape needs to be to hold a TB not to mention a PB?
Depends if you use "Turbo Loader" or anything similar or not ... How long would it take to rewind a tape like that?

I'm from the UK, where capital punishement was abolished in 1969. Here in the UK we would love capital punishement to be reintroduced, a life for a life as they say. But it makes me wonder how someone can play god. Of course people who have murdered other people are kind of playing God, but in most cases, these attacks are not pre-planned, and really messy. Most murders are in defence or panic, also a lot of pre-planned. But someone playing God, deciding who lives and dies, I think it's kind of crazy sometimes. How can anyone be allowed to play god, how can 1 human, or 12 humans decide if another human dies in a controlled way. But I do agree that if you take a life, your life should be taken. But it still makes me think lots about it, I was in really deep thought about it a few nights ago. Here in the UK the law is fail, 2 years for killing someone. No common sense here in the UK.
