What are chances of Dream Act? --> No one can predict. Depends on how Bush era tax cut bill goes through. Dems has added few provision to please Republicans so they are improving chances.
What are the chances of including our provisions in the bill? --> At this point Republicans want enforcement. They may not bargain for legal immigration in this bill. Rather they may prefer to add some tough rule for dreamers.
What happens if the bill passes without our provisions? ---> We will still have a chance to have our bill as piecemeal or just sit and watch
What happens if the bill fails? --> I hope they get it done, Dreamers are more enthusiastic than us and unless they get it these lawmakers will not think about us. Also they can set example that piecemeal is possible.

My wife has her name changed in the local county (Judge's order and a name change certificate)
She may start a job on EAD (has maiden name)..
Any clues on the process to make similar change in EAD, AP +passport (We would travel soon too), Pending 485 (so that her GC approval comes with the new name)

You can apply for a PCC from Regional Passport Office. I got mine for Rs.300/- at the Passport office in just 2 days and its very simple. If you want a PCC from Police Department its a big hassle in India, you can approach only the Superintendent/Commissioner's Office to request one. Mostly Police in India demand money for these kind of simple things, its nothing but "bribe" which I'm against.

can you tell me which RPO you went to to get the PCC done ? We are in a similar boat. Consulate interview coming up, we are in Australia, local consulate giving us a hard time - saying they will need 2 months to get a PCC !!!! So planning to go to Kolkata to get it done.

As far as I could make it out, you dont have to have all the documents at VFS - you can submit your PCC at the time of the interview. I remember reading somewhere in the Mumbai Consulate website that you can even submit all your documents at the interview, but you have to pay the courier fees at VFS 10-7 working days in advance. Hope this helps.
Also, for you and anyone else attending Consular Processing, I got this in an e-mail from the Mumbai Consulate:
"Yes, you may bring a PCC from the Regional Passport Office in India. Also, if you can, you may get a PCC from the police certificate from the local police station in addition to the PCC from RPO. The PCC from the local police station is not compulsory, but the other PCC is a must from the RPO."

My attorney asked for all prior H1 or L1 approval notices. I told him I don't have them. I only have my current H1 approval notice. I do have all visa stamps on my passport. He told me USCIS is very likely to ask for those.

I got 485 Card production order and welcome notice email yesterday . I am assuming that means I got PR . my company has filed for H1 -B extension last week itself . what will happen to that extension , do we need to revoke/withdraw that petition ?
has anyone being in this situation ?

Since you are a permanent resident (green card holder) now, H1-B petition must be denied. But, it should not matter.

I am currently on OPT which is valid till July 2009. Also, my H1-B is approved through a company X starting oct 2008. Currently I got a job with company Y on my OPT. Can I continue to work on my OPT with company Y till July 2009? OR Do I need to transfer my H1B to company Y from company X to be able to continue to work after Oct 2008?

Well, thanks all for your responses, but I am as cfused as I was before I posted the question. Do any of you have any sources to back your claims. I know for sure that worldwide income has to be reported, so thanks for that clarification desi3933. But do you have a source that mentions that a person on H4 can for sure work outside. I feel "related" might be the key word that can cause discomfort for a lot of people. How does one determine that ones job is related to his/her degree ? This might finally be left upto the discretion of the USCIS.
One might have studied electrical engineering and then get in a job writing embedded systems software. Will that be a related job ?
One might have an MS in Biological sciences but might be writing software for genetics. Is that a related job ? The list can go on.
How far can one digress from ones degree major to still be considered related.
I presume we might see a lot of confusion regarding STEM if the whole thing is made into a law.

Priority Date Current: Curse or Boon ?
I am EB3 India applicant with PD of August 2001 (own not substitution). Have I 140 approved since November 2005 but was only able to file I 485 in June 2007. With same employer for 10 yrs and on 9th yr of H1.
Earlier this year my PD was correct for 2 months but didnt hear anything from USCIS. My PD is current again this Nov and Dec and havent heard anything yet. Called USCIS customer svc and they said cant do anything as processing date is not current (Yes and they are going by Notice date and not Received date for service request). Lawyer says just stay cool and wait. So USCIS has no logic and no order and all we can do is wait for our stars to be aligned and case getting picked up in a sweep. Other than that being current is a curse rather than a boon because

You can not get 2 yrs EAD if PD is current.
So those dying for PD to be current think again. Its no use having PD current if USCIS is going to be so random and haphazard. It may turn out to be a curse.
Read somewhere that AC21 can not be (or not advisable to) used when PD is current. Not sure how far is this true.

He is not supposed to give you the entire document. Please read the instructions carefully printed on the upper portion !!
Something does not sound right here. How can the employer "misplace" the upper portion of the approval notice? In the first place, why did he even separate the upper portion and the lower portion? He is supposed to give you the entire document as a single piece of paper.

I recently travelled to India via Munich on Lufthansa. I was told by my ticketing agent that I will need a German transit visa. I looked at the info. on German constulate's website and did some reasearch, I didn't need one.
I suggest, you get one to be on the safer side. For other readers, if you are on H1B and if your transit time is 2 to 3 hours and you travel on the same airlines (there are other issues e.g. the terminal is same etc.), than you don't need a transit visa but always call in and check with the appropriate constulate.

Yes, it won't be a rejection or a denial either...just a simple RFE. Since both the names on the marriage certificate are different from the applicant (you) and the beneficiary (your wife), USCIS should be able to deduce that it's a mistake.
