"Oh but it's sad when a love affair dies...the decline into silence and doubt. Our passion was just too intense to survive...which means..." - Evita
*SIGH* Words cannot express how BUMMED I am about the
@miniviva: A statement will follow soon with the news of Mini Viva X
DUN DUN DUN. The end is near and I'm wiping away tears. The girls have also been active on their personal Twitter pages, eliminating the "Mini Viva" name from their handles and Tweeting at fans. First Britt Love last week...
@miniviva: Hey I've changed my twitter name to @iambrittlove add me Xxx
Then Frankee Connolly chimed in yesterday...
@miniviva: Hey people come follow me on my personal profile @FrankeeOfficial xx
Frankee continued on her personal Twitter page:
@FrankeeOfficial: @JooeB16 I am currently working on my solo career x
On Mini Viva's Facebook page, Britt posted a status update:
"YO GUYS AND GIRLS, I HAVE A NEW PROJECT AND I WANTED YOU TO BE THE FIRST TO KNOW. ADD MY NEW BAND PAGE!...http://www.facebook.com/iambrittlove"
So while there is light at the end of the tunnel, the split is still a hard pill to swallow, ESPECIALLY after hearing unreleased snippets of songs from the album. I am left feeling encouraged after hearing a song Britt Love posted on her Facebook page. "Playing The Game" sounds VERY promising! Like Mini Viva...only solo. Very fresh and modern. Sounds like the girls are doing what they need to do to survive in this cutthroat industry and if it means going solo then go for it girls.
Mini Viva formed in 2008 at the hands of by UK songwriting/production outfit, Xenomania. Due to release their debut album in 2010, the duo released their debut single, "Left My Heart In Tokyo" back in September of 2009. Produced by Xenomania, the song was a success, both critically AND on the charts, peaking at #7 in the UK. The duo's two follow up singles, however, failed to find their predecessor's success on the charts. "I Wish" only managed to peak at #73 on the charts while third single, "One Touch" fell shy of the Top 100, landing at #114. Not a good sign of things to come. To make matters worse the band was reportedly dropped by Geffen back in September. So...at the very least Mini Viva is label-less. Not a good position to be in for an act with only one Top Ten Hit to their credit.
So...while fans wait with baited breath to hear the inevitable BAD news, let's remember the good times. Check out the video for "Left My Heart In Tokyo" below.
Watch out for an official statement from the girls soon. I wish both Frankee and Britt lots of luck and love in their solo endeavors. I'm sure we'll be seeing them again soon.
**UPDATE** It's official. The girls posted the news on Facebook this afternoon. Sad story but I'll DEFINITELY follow Frankee and Britt along in their respective solo careers. Here's the message:
