As New York-based dance/electronica act Hercules and Love Affair gets set to release their sophomore album (via Moshi Moshi Records) at the end of the month (January 31st), the band has unveiled a little taste of what we can expect with first single "My House." The band, which consists of Andy Butler, Kim Ann Foxman and Mark Pistel, are best known for their 2008 debut single, "Blind" (see the video HERE) which was co-written by and featuring Antony Hegarty (of Antony & The Johnsons). The song went on to hit #40 on the UK Singles Chart, while the group's self-titled debut album peaked at #191 on the Billboard 200 and #31 on the UK Albums Chart. "Blind" also had the honor of being named 'Best Song of 2008' by Pitchfork Media.
Now, the band is ready for round two and so far all signs are pointing to an AMAZING start. "My House" is a retro/electro dance floor stomper complete with a super low budget video that includes a commercial break. As annoying as that might sound, it's actually quite cool. Quirky vocals, thumping beats, a cheesy fun video...this song is a hit in my book. Very much looking forward to hearing more from the new album, Blue Songs, due out January 31st. The single is due to be released on the same day as the album. Can't wait! Check out the video below or check it out HERE if the embed isn't working.
